Sport plays its part in the balanced development of the child. At Brighton State School, students in years 4 – 6 have the opportunity to represent the school in the Bramble Bay District Interschool Sport competitions. Teams representing our school compete in a range of sports.
Swimming
In Term 4, Prep to Year 6 students undertake an intensive swimming program at Sandgate Pool culminating in a swimming carnival.
House system
When students are enrolled, they are allocated a sporting house. All siblings belong to the same house.
The houses compete in our interhouse Athletics Carnival. The carnival is an opportunity for students to demonstrate the skills they have built on during Physical Education lessons in long jump, high jump, discus, shot put and sprints as well as 200m and 800m events.
The houses are:
- Paterson (green)
- Lawson (yellow)
- Evans (blue)
- Kendall (maroon)
