Excursions and incursions
Throughout the year, excursions and incursions are planned to enhance curriculum delivery. Possible excursion destinations could include Bunyaville Environmental Education Centre, Brisbane Planetarium, Out of the Box, Museum, Musical performances and local area studies. At Brighton, we organise a wide range of incursions (bringing the world into our school) that relate to the curriculum units being studied in class.
These include Footsteps, Hands on Education, Musical Performances etc.
Camps
At Brighton, students in Years 5 and 6 attend a school camp each year to foster positive relationships and provide team building opportunities. Depending on the location, students rotate through a variety of outdoor activities which could include canoeing, high ropes, low ropes, bushwalking, problem solving, archery, giant swing, swimming, sports activities and sand tobogganing.
The students learn a great deal whilst being away on school camp, not only about themselves, but about others and their environment. It is a very rewarding experience and much-talked about upon return to school.
