Welcome to Brighton State School Library.
Our school library houses an up-to-date collection of books and resources reflecting the needs of our school community.
Borrowing and browsing
The Library is open for borrowing and browsing
- before school from 8.20am
- during first break 10.50 to 11.20am.
Parents are welcome to visit the library to assist their children in selecting resources before and after school.
All children need a library bag when borrowing to protect the book and prevent excessive wear and tear.
Loans are for a two week period.
All students visit the library at least once each week with their class to browse, return and borrow. Students may borrow two books at a time and may renew up to 3 times. Students from Prep to Year 3 enjoy a weekly library lesson with the Teacher Librarian.
Our extensive collection features the best new Australian and International releases each year. Students have access to a wide variety of fiction and non-fiction books, picture books and popular series. Students at Brighton State School also have access to the Queensland State Schools eBooks Digital Library. The eBooks Digital Library is an extensive collection of digital resources and eBooks which students can access at school and at home on their own devices.
Our library hosts a computer lab with 28 student workstations which is used by classes throughout the week. Students may access the computer lab at first break. Lunchtime activities in the library include quiet reading, games and puzzles, colouring and drawing, chess, lego and craft and STEM activities.
Children's Book Week is a huge week of celebration in the library. Activities include a Dress up parade, displays and special performances.
